Document and Media Restoration
Through a highly effective freeze-drying method, we can recover most damaged documents and prevent further damage from liquids. To start, water damaged records are initially frozen. Freezing creates a state of preservation to stabilize the item, preventing further deterioration, and allows time for recovery decisions to be made. Next, the frozen items are placed into our state-of-the-art freeze-drying chamber and then placed under an intense vacuum. The water is then extracted as a vapour, bypassing the liquid state where damage occurs. The chamber is computer controlled and monitored 24 hours a day during the drying process.
